Our Point of View
Goodbye Mr. Jack
By Mark A. Jicha

When I learned how Mr. Jack had died, I cheered. Even there at the end, he was able to play his last hunch.
He was a man of few words and quiet elegance. I smiled for the spirit of a man who came within a hair’s breath of the perfect game we call life.
He let his legs carry him until he was weary, and when his heart grew too heavy he set his burden down. God bless him for his freedom.
Every time he was called he stepped to the line. He never backed down from a kindness or kept rudeness waiting his fierce white temper.
He lived and breathed for another grab at the apple, a wink and a grin; there was always room for cake.
And did I tell you how he hunted, broke ice for big mallards, thousands & thousands of times, millions of years ago? That’s where he is now.
Mr. Jack, you are gone but not forgotten.
